Worms, Crickets, and Frogs

Last week, the neighbors down the street asked me to feed their frogs while they were out of town. The Preece Family consists of Marci and Adam, and their four little boys: Isaac (red-headed), Henry (blonde), Quinn (red-headed), and Cannon (red-headed).

Most everybody knows I have a soft spot for red-headed boys...

Of course I would look after the frogs! The frogs belonged to Henry and Quinn. Quinn is five and will be going to kindergarten this year. Quinn is adorable, and when they come and visit, he shoves his little head into the window by the door to see if someone is home. Quinn is so super cute.

And Quinn's frog, Brown Frog, was sick.

Marci had told me before that Brown Frog was sick. She called the first day I was to feed them and asked if I could give Brown Frog 1 worm and 2 crickets, instead of just 2 worms. Apparently crickets help sick frogs.

As much as I love red-headed boys, I hate worms and crickets. Worms that I had to dig around for in a container of 100 to find a live one. Crickets that Marci said I could just "toss" into the cage. I don't "toss" crickets. Gross.

Well, Brown Frog did die, indeed. Marci asked me if I would "take care of it" so Quinn wouldn't see his dead frog. As much as I hate worms and crickets, I hate dead frogs more. Poor little Brown Frog's body had adhered itself to the fake rock. I had to unstick his body.

Luckily, Griffin was wailing downstairs, so I had to do it fast.

Rest In Peace, Brown Frog.

Worms, crickets, and frogs. Is that my future?

I hope so :)
